You should be PLOWING through not PAYING attention to distractions. Instagram Image

In our Christ-Life, prayer is the ultimate distraction deterrent.  Our prayer life should always be based on God’s word and serve as a counter-attack for whatever situation or circumstance that would otherwise distract us.

For example, when I am scheduled to preach, in the process of preparation I find my mind drifting adversely to what I know the Spirit of God has revealed to me through scriptures to share with His people. During the preparation of sermons, I was used to be distracted with the thought, “What if they don’t understand what you are saying?”

Well, the word gives me assurance against that distraction. In John 10:27 Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me.” In John 12:32 Jesus also says, “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” I know If I lift up the Word (Jesus) from the pulpit (earth), those in attendance will indeed hear Him (the Word/Jesus) and will follow Him (the Word/Jesus).  In essence, whoever I preach the sermon to will follow what I have been inspired by the Spirit of God to say.

My prayer then is to come against the distraction that the listeners will hear Him through me with no problems and apply the preached word to their lives.  With prayer I plow right through the distraction because the Word of God assures me that all will be well as God intends.

Find the Word of God that brings a promise against the adverse situation or circumstance in your life. I call them God Promises, then you pray that promise daily.  That is how you plow through the distractions instead of paying attention to them.
